Challenge

Breaking into a new account is rarely easy, especially when it starts as a cold call. 

This customer, a rapidly growing foodservice company with more than 250 locations across Nevada and Arizona, was experiencing packaging failures that were affecting both product quality and efficiency. Their existing kraft laminate bags were tearing when filled with hot French fries, causing operational frustration and product waste. 

The obstacles were clear: strong competition already in place and decision makers who were hard to reach. Therefore, it was crucial to overcome the barriers of a cold introduction while also proving that LK could provide a stronger, more reliable solution. 

Solution 

The solution came in the form of a 4-mil freezer-grade kraft/PA-PE laminate film designed for use on vertical form-fill-seal (VFFS) equipment. 

The kraft/nylon-polyethylene structure delivers excellent hot-tack, seal strength, and tear resistance. The solution was tested in person with the customer’s operations team. 

Bags were run through the VFFS machine, then put through rigorous durability checks such as tearing, punching, and compression tests, all of which passed effortlessly. 

Results

Since implementation, the customer has placed two purchase orders totaling 26,000 units within three months, with projected annual sales of $197,000. 

The bags are performing exceptionally in their operations, delivering the strength and consistency needed for high-volume foodservice packaging.

The partnership has also garnered industry recognition. Frites Street, the customer, and LK Packaging was featured in Packaging World magazine, showcasing the innovation and collaboration behind this successful solution.
